As the sun set for good at the west, Idomeneus tied the dog before lay on a bench beside the Guard's kiosk. He was not speaking at all, but I was not sure if he had fallen asleep. I felt very happy with
the sweet warmth of nature around us and the quite tranquility. Mr. George was trying to use his small
computer and failed to turn it on, but only until we returned to our base, on Monday.
So he left the palmtop back to its case and went to the fountain to drink fresh
water. The spring water was running out as a crystal river. A light interrupted
my thoughts. Suddenly the corner of my eye noticed a glow at the sky coming
from the west. There were no clouds in the sky. At northwest and among the
stars I focused my eyes and I saw a white light at least ten times more
powerful than the light of other stars around it. It seemed that it was
signaling towards us. It looked like it had a huge vaulted glass-curved beam of
white light. After a couple of seconds it faded out softly.
The phenomenon was
repeated three times. I whistled softly to Mr. George beckoned to come near me,
showing him the light source, pulsing with a friendly tone. He whispered: “where?
A, I see!” We saw a signal of seven flashes if I'm not wrong and the whole thing was repeated three times. Overall it
did not last more than a minute. The flashes had the same intensity and a merry
pace (I think three-fourths tempo), giving the impression of warmth, no fear at all. It seemed however that it was still without motion right or left. I do not know where planet Venus was at that time,
but this is the official
explanation given to such sightings, of highly luminous objects. Official lips certainly do not tell us if planet Venus is culminating, or if it can
flash its light at a steady pace and then fade it out and
disappear. We did not even think to get our cameras since everything was so fast.
When the light source disappeared, I was puzzled by
the following possibilities:
1. Was it a plane?
At that height, the lights of the largest airplane could not have been seen
with so much tension and it could not stand still.
2. Was it a comet? Comets are moving like the shooting
stars trajectories and leave a tail in the sky.
3. Lights of the international space station? As far as I
know, the station does not have such a powerful projector.
4. Secret weapon? But
what? A prototype coming from the nearby
base of Souda? Or some other signal that has not yet revealed?
5. Was it my idea?
If the phenomenon was not observed by a second person, I could not answer.
6. Was it an alien spaceship? This is a possibility that
"reasonably" cannot be true, but it cannot be refused too.
7. Was it an electric phenomenon of the atmosphere? Maybe.
It could not be geostationary satellites however because the reflection of such
a satellite, it is almost as a TV light that cannot be seen from so many
kilometers away.
If unknown phenomena that become visible by coincidence at certain times and days of the year in places of archaeological interest are created by entities that may take whatever form they want, intending to mislead mankind for their own reasons? Or to awaken us?
