View of the Gulf of St. Kirikos, as locals call the area with the ruins of the ancient city Lissos. The entire beach with the small valley is first class archaeological zone, with permanent guards. Camping is not allowed in Lissos.



Lots of people from around the world are visiting the ancient Lissos to walk to the ancient site that attracted visitors seeking a cure  from the ancient Greek God of Medicine, the famous Asclepius, son of Apollo.

The remains of the temple of Apollo were used to build the church of Agia Kyriaki and Agios Kirikos, as you can see at the top of the marble pediment in the form of Apollo-Helios built in at the northern corner wall. Besides Sunday, is the day of the sun and Kyriaki in Greek means Sunday...
